and Art will take place in
Saint-Claud on the long
weekend of July 19–22. So if

talent to be collected in one

The rustic life isn’t
always idyllic, but
a new club might
help.
The Farm Women’s Club en
France is the latest
offshoot of the highly
successful Charente-
Limousine Exchange, an
organisation founded in 2003
to help newcomers to France.
Celia Lougher, responsible
for the group, has lived in
France for 14 years and is
emphatic: “Many of the
women who come to our
meetings are quite young and
have children. They often
experience extreme isolation
when they arrive in France.

election of five new officers
including his own successor.

of Vienne has a solution.
Throughout July and August,
the Caravane des Sports will
be travelling around the
département, bringing sports
equipment and qualified
physical education instructors.

concrete water towers, dating
from just after WWII, which
stand khaki sentinel over so
many French villages. Most of
them have passed their sell-by
date, most are in poor repair,
many have had more than one
leakage repair. In French, they
are châteaux d’eau –
castles of water.
