Dijon railway station gets rationalised Print E-mail

The concourse and parking outside Dijon railway station are being renovated. The work should make parking and access easier, and more suitable for people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users .
The changes will put in place parking for bicycles, special areas for hire cars, taxi ranks, buses and coaches, and a 70- place short-term parking area on the concourse. A threestorey cark park, which will accommodate 260 cars, will be ready by the end of 2008.

The préfecture of Saône-et-Loire has authorised a pig farm to be built, between the north of Chalon-sur-Saône and the southwest of Beaune. The farm will try to raise around 1,200 weaners.
A request was made by M. Bernard Bigot, Earl Agriporc and Earl Lactoporc to construct a fattening unit in the village of Saint-Gervais-en-Vallière.

Dun-les-Places commemorates WWII massacre Print E-mail

The 63rd commemoration of the massacre of 37 members of the population of Dun-les-Places in the Morvan took place on Tuesday June 26.
The massacre was an act of revenge by the Occupation Forces following a joint attack on a German patrol by members of the French Maquis and British Special Air Services who were operating behind enemy lines.

Bourges is about to get its own wine – the Cuvée Ville de Bourges. Behind the initiative are the town’s maire Serge Lepeltier and the deputé maire, Roland Narboux.
In late June, a panel of experts tasted 15 different wines from the Sancerre region in order to choose the final cuvée.

Most large towns may boast a red light district, but Bourges at this time of year is distinctly blue. Every evening in July and August, the town’s medieval centre is bathed in a curious blue light, guiding visitors around the ‘Nuits Lumières’. These are a twomonth long son et lumière show, glorifying the town’s rich culture and history.
