Saint Andrew’s Church in Brittany invites everyone regardless of
denomination to their ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHURCH SERVICES
Usually followed by Holy Communion, services are held at least twice each
month at the Foyer Communal in Guénin which is on the D197, in the centre
of the village, 5 minutes from Baud and 15 minutes from Pontivy. Services
are conducted by the Minister, Rev. Iain S Jenkins or by an Elder of the
Church and follow broadly the Nonconformist pattern with prayers, hymns,
readings from Holy Scripture and a short sermon.
Hot drinks and biscuits are provided after the service and a fellowship lunch
is held at least twice each year. Whilst the congregation is affiliated to the
Congregational Federation, many other denominations and local residents
join in this vibrant fellowship which also offers a comprehensive calendar of
social events.
Forthcoming services (at 10.30 am unless otherwise stated):
January 13 and 27; February 10 and 24 : Bilingual Anniversary service

The teaching staff of the
collège of Vélines sent
out a press release
expressing their worry at the
deterioration of working
conditions. Job cuts and
limited funds have left the
staff concerned for the the
welfare of its students.
The college is in a
Réseau d’Éducation
Prioritaire, meaning that its
students come from
underpriveleged families.
“The Republic is
supposed to guarantee to all
its citizens the right of
instruction and to reduce
social inequality,” read the
press release. “This is not the
case at Vélines.”
