Running until May 15, 2008 is an exhibition at Oradour-sur-
Glane, the Haute-Vienne town where the population was
massacred by Nazis during World War II. Focusing on the
rights of Jews – in particular those who didn’t make it out of
their countries and were sentenced to death in specially setup
German concentration camps – the main exhibition
material comes from Nuremberg. The exhibition explores the
world of antisemitism and racial hatred. Not for everyone
perhaps, but essential for those who want to learn the lessons
of history.

d’Oradour-sur-Glane’
died on August 6 at Gransee,

The world final of the ‘King
of the Groms’ under-16
surfing tournament saw 15-
year-old Tahitian, Tamaroa
McComb, crowned King.
McComb battled it out with
Australian Garrett Parkes to
take the title. Despite Parkes
being the more experienced
of the two, McComb scored
a massive 18.63 from a
possible 20 in the final heat.
Former event winner
Jeremy Flores presented
McComb with his prize – a
wildcard entry for two of
the ASP World
Championship tour trials,
the Quiksilver Pro France
2007 and the Quiksilver Pro
Goldcoast 2008. Flores said
he was “really impressed”
by the kids, or ‘groms’ in
surfing speak, and thought
McComb had the
potential to be a future
world champion.

Despite huge attempts
on the part of the
authorities to ensure
an incident-free, five-day
fiesta, the first 24 hours of
the 75th Bayonne fêtes
witnessed one death and ten
arrests. The victim, a 21-
year-old from the Lot-et-
Garonne, fell from the
window of a fourth floor
flat in the Petit Bayonne
district of the city. He was
part of a group which had
been attempting to climb
through the window to the
service staircase of an
internal courtyard. Two men
also fell more than 15 metres
from the ramparts the
following evening, and were
