If you happen to be in the vicinity of the Parc André-
Citroën, you’re likely to spot the park’s Eutelstat hot-air
balloon. It hovers above the 35-acre space once occupied by
the French car manufacturer before it closed its Parisian
warehouse to move to the outskirts in 1970.
The park’s buoyant attraction is no longer just a pretty
face, as on top of offering unimpeded views of the city, it
now acts as a barometer that measures air quality in Paris.

After seasons of block colour, leading designers have been smattering their
collections with sun-drenched flowers in all shapes and sizes in celebration of
summertime. Carly-Jane Lock tells the story “Il était une fleur…”

The Spanish designer and Royal College of Art graduate José Castro presented guests at Paris Fashion Week with a bouquet of voluminous ‘boule’ dresses and belted skirtsuits in ivory, rose bonbon and black; entirely composed of or trimmed with petallike layers of tulle. Lest anyone forget, the New York State Museum and
the Caen Mémorial have teamed up to create a new
8,000 square-foot exposition to document the events that
led up to and defined this pivotal date in the world’s history.
The exhibit, which opens June 6 in Caen at the Mémorial (Cité de
l’Histoire pour La Paix) includes hundreds of photos but also dozens of
objects recovered from the site after the disaster of September 11: a
battered emergency exit sign, a firefighter’s helmet, even a half-crushed
police jeep.

Obama supporters around the world
are staging political rallies on
bridges: Obama bridges the divide,
get it?
France, rich both in bridges and
Obama supporters, figured heavily
on the list of dozens of bridge-rallies
staged in May. Furthermore, the
Democrats Abroad chair in
Strasbourg, Susan Vaillant, gets
credit for the ‘Yes We Span’ slogan.
The France photo ops included
the Millau viaduct, the Pont Neuf in
Paris, and, of course, the Pont
d’Avignon where they sang “On y
vote, on y vote…” to the tune of,
well, you know.
For more information, including
a complete list of bridges, links to
YouTube videos and future possible
bridge rallies:
