Monica and Jim Fitzgerald moved to
Brittany from Ireland just a month ago
after finishing renovating a cottage by
the canal in Évran. They also brought
with them their “little girls”, miniature
American horses which they use to
give free therapy. But over a weekend
in May someone stole all the equipment
for their horses.

Congratulations to trainer-driver M X Charlot who has won his
1,000th race in a selling plate at Villeneuve-sur-Lot and what’s
more, on our horse Nainjaune. The horse was immediately bought
by trainer Henri. Heather, my fellow-owner, and I wish him all the
luck in the world with him. Unfortunately, I was not able to see
the victory being otherwise engaged in hospital but on my return
we split a bottle of champagne with my ever-loving and our
trainer’s wife Michèle Charlot.

Re-established in 2006, this now thriving association has at
least 30 Connemara stallions. Brittany is, along with
Burgundy, the region with the highest count of Connemara
ponies in France.
