A get-together in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche on June 2 was arranged by Familles Rurales 2 to demonstrate how well the local non-French have restored properties. Even the vicepresident of the conseil général made an allnight journey from Scotland to attend.

The South Indre North Creuse Association (SINCA) is a new club to help Anglophones integrate. Its catchment area covers Guéret to Châteauroux and Issoudun to Dun-le-Palestel.

SINCA meets at 2.30pm on the first Tuesday of every month in Fredy’s Brasserie in La Châtre in the Indre, famous for its George Sand museum. With beef one of the leading exports of the Limousin, a genetic revolution is about to take place. Cows, their lives and reproduction, are to be the centre of an ambitious new European study undertaken by UPRA France Limousin (Union Régionale des Coopératives d’Élevage d’Amélioration) and Limoges University. Farmers will soon know the genetic qualities of an animal almost before it’s born.
