The first, partly experimental medical centre entirely dedicated
to the elderly will be set up in Toulouse, called Gérontopôle.
Like the cancer research centres, the centre will unite researchers
in all medical fields to work on longevity and ageing.

AToulouse primary school was
seriously damaged by fire during the
night of Saturday, May 12. The fire
started when a car was crashed into the
entrance of the primary school, Clément
Falcucci, located in the crime-ridden
district of Le Mirail. The crash started a
fire which devastated six of the 15
classrooms. Half of the building will be
closed until September for investigation
and renovation.

Set up in 1997 by Patrick de Chirée, who manages to be both a
hospital doctor and a choir leader in Auch, this choir festival
takes up the challenge each year to attract a wide local audience
as well as choir aficionados from all over France. Performances
take place over the last three weekends in June, in Auch or the
abbey of Flaran. They are a great opportunity to widen our
appreciation of choir singing, and this year the selection of
choirs will be as eclectic as ever.
