Carpet the floor in June with the fine
leaves and mainly pink, blue and violet
flowers of garden geraniums; they give a
light and natural – champêtre – touch to the
garden, and spread quickly to make dense
hummocks. These are very easy to divide
and plant elsewhere. Unearth the tufts with a
fork and grab the leaves and stalks and pull
them gently. Separate plants with your
hands. Plant them straight away in fresh soil
enriched with a little compost and plant
them in a tolerably sunny position or, better,
in midshade.
