A poll taken for the charity Emmaüs showed that 71% think that the situation of the homeless or badly housed (les mal-logés) has not improved, despite the protests by the Enfants de Don Quichotte nearly one year ago. Indeed, 47% of those questioned feared that they themselves might one day become homeless. The poll also showed 58% of the population to be unaware that there is now a legal right to a home enforceable in the courts. The state should be the ones to solve the problems of the badly housed, currently protesting outside the French stock exchange, say 54% of the population, but a survey among the homeless themselves revealed only 49% to agree. Among the homeless, 49% think the housing situation has not improved, 26% think it has and 11% think it is worse.
