Visits to the ancient village of Marseillan start again on Wednesday, April 23. Last summer, More than 300 walkers from 24 countries took a walking tour of Marseillan. Thanks to visitors’ generosity, over the three years
the tours have been offered, a total of E1,706 has been donated to village charities.
Marseillan Historique (MH) was formed in 2006 by an English couple living in Marseillan. MH exists to research, record and protect the history and culture of what may well be the oldest village in France.
It is funded from donations – there is no charge for the walks – and from the sale of ‘Marseillan, Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow’, a village history in English.
Extra events are planned for June, July and August. On the first and third Thursdays the history of the village will be presented at Garden Parties in one of the old village’s maisons de maître.
The first Thursday will cover Marseillan from its foundation to Napoléon. The third will present the 19th and 20th centuries and look forward into the 21st.

Tours run from 10.30 to noon, with coffee and home-made cakes after. Wednesdays: the ancient village. Thursdays:
the historic port and the Étang de Thau. Meet at 11 bd Lamartine, mid-way between the traffic lights and theatre.
Garden Parties will start at 6pm and run for two hours.
‘Marseillan, Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow’ is just going into a new and enlarged edition.
Price: E10 (plus E4 postage).
