Relive the ancient city of Lattes

Image

Step back in time and discover this site dedicated to the ancient Gallic city of Lattes in the Languedoc. Lattes is more than 2,500 years old, and may have been founded as a result of contacts between the Etruscans and the Gauls.
The town was frequented by traders and sailors from Marseille, Greece and Spain, and most probably by the Phoenicians and Italians plying their trade around the Mediterranean. On this visually striking site, history lovers can take a virtual stroll through the streets in the shadow of the medieval city walls, relive the excitement around the arrivals and departures of trading boats and invite themselves into the residents’ houses.
The site includes 3D images and videos, some remarkable photos, diagrams and maps, filmed interviews with specialists, a timeline and a game. It is informative and entertaining for adults and children alike. Created by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, after many years of archeological research in association with the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the site is accessible to all, with an abridged version in sign language, as well as translations into English and Spanish.
