Madam,
I have no doubt that your patriotism as Editor of such a prestigious newspaper, which (metaphorically speaking) regularly flies the flag, is the equal of any of your readers. However, you have, if I may say so, gone over the top on page 23 of the May issue (N° 228). It is true that the English have successfully sought their revenge against the French at Crécy, Agincourt, Malplaquet and even Waterloo, but Hastings was not really one of our victories.
Incidentally, the Bayeux video is very entertaining – as well as getting the result correct! Yours etc,

Yes, “11th-century victory over the Normans” should of course have read “11th-century victory of the Normans”. I think
