Writing articles gives challenge and variety: one moment I’m interviewing an artist the next a farmer. Also it’s very satisfying because an article is finished so quickly compared to a novel! I started writing regularly for French News in July 2007.

I came to work in France when I married a Scot who wanted to live anywhere other than England. France for me was the obvious choice since I’ve always felt at home here.
For the first 11 years I worked at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce at La Rochelle (because of my MBA) and the university ‒ far more exciting than being a headteacher in London! For the last seven years I’ve travelled with my Scot, going off for months in the camping car and further afield. I started writing feature articles for the glossies, a few for French News and its sister magazine, and novels (no, I haven’t had any published yet, but note that optimistic ‘yet’!). I enjoy the diversity of article writing and shamelessly use ex-colleagues, friends and chance contacts for ideas.
I’m involved in organising local events, give guided tours to our château and was part of the election team that lost ‒ this time round.
As I am now taking a high-powered course about French architecture to be a guide, so writing articles is a relaxation!
