![]() What can I say about myself? There I was in the city of London enjoying my life as a PA with an important 'en-suite boss' - his office led off from mine so that I could protect him from the 'can you spare me a minute?' - no appointment brigade. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I reached 50 and decided it was time I learnt to ski. A sort of mid life crisis? - well I always was a late starter - so I went out on the piste with my French skiing instructor! - and we we've been married for ten years now. We moved from England to the beautiful Auvergne region, where my husband's family come from. After doing a three months intensive French language course at the University Blaise Pascal in Clermont Ferrand and then a TEFL course (teaching English as a foreign language), I spent the next seven years teaching English to 8-15 year olds in various schools in the Puy de Dôme (63). On retiring at sixty, we moved to the Nord Pas de Calais (62) to be nearer to my two children and five grandchildren in England. I have always subscribed to the French News, it's been so helpful to me in understanding France, the people, and initially in helping me understand what's going on, in my own language. Therefore, when I finally had the time to do some freelance writing I was delighted (ecstatic actually) when FN's editor, Miranda, accepted my offer to contribute as a correspondent for the Nord Pas de Calais. ![]() You can see by the photo how much I am loving it... |
