Equine Rescue France
recently held its first
Annual General Meeting at
La Grande Galerie in Civray.
With members spread
throughout the hexagon,
most took the opportunity to
use their proxy vote to
re-elect Kathryn Dobson as
President and Jenny Lupton
as Secretary.

Jon Dobson and Trina Summerfield, with Noisette, a Breton mare.
Kathryn said, “Since the
launch of ERF last year,
we’ve been extremely busy
investigating cruelty and
neglect cases, together with
several rescues of equines
which were destined for
slaughter in Italy.”
Along with founder
Trina Summerfield, the team
is also busy establishing
links with UK-based
International League for
Horses and the World
Society for Protection of
Animals, to report on the
horrific conditions under
which horses and donkeys
are transported thousands of
kilometres around Europe
before finally being
slaughtered for human
consumption.
To help raise funds, the
association sells specially
designed shirts and fleecies,
as well as a hand-made
silver brooch of a prancing
pony and, soon, a range of
greeting cards. Last year
they held a Christmas dinner
dance with karaoke and an
auction, and in April
organised a well-attended
country and western
evening. “We’ve got lots of
exciting things lined up,
including a Summer Fair
and an Xmas Ball,”
continued Kathryn, “so keep
an eye on our blog
for details.”
