Sweet white wines, full-bodied reds... Bélingard steps up quality
to bring fine flavours to discerning tastebuds
Who hasn’t seen
Bélingard? One of
the most
spectacular viticultural
sights, it is a promontory
in the form of a terrace
jutting out in the midst of
undulating hills
overlooking the valley. “It’s
Tuscany!” a great many
visitors declare. However,
it isn’t Tuscany, but the
Château Bélingard,
champion of the Bergerac
and Monbazillac vineyards.
Ten kilometres from
Bergerac in the heart of
the village of Pomport,
Bélingard invites you to
visit and taste its wines.
Laurent and Sylvie de
Bosredon will be delighted
to share their little empire,
recounting the fascinating
secrets surrounding
the history of this
“magic” spot.
Be it Celtic (15th
century BC) or the Middle
Ages, history has
constantly intervened in
the lives and the vineyard
of Bélingard. It is in this
context that the wines of
Château Bélingard are
patiently prepared.
The vineyard is planted
to red and white grape
varieties producing both
superb dry as well as
generous sweet whites,
also deep-coloured reds
and iridescent rosés.
Take for example the
Château Bélingard Cuvée
Ortus 2005, a Côtes de
Bergerac AC. Standardbearer
for the estate, it has
a deep robe, almost black,
well concentrated fruit
sustained by vanilla and
coconut within a
remarkable, perfectly silky,
tannic structure. A great
vintage and a top-class
wine for long cellaring.
You might also be
enticed by the Monbazillac
AC, the perfect dessert
wine, or perhaps an
apéritif, vinified from
grapes lovingly picked by
the harvesters when the
miracle of noble rot has
worked its magic.
All Bélingard wines
have won multiple
trophies and medals at
international tastings.
