Eurotunnel has started work to repair the damaged section of the North tunnel. It is expected that the work will take four months.
The contracts for repairs were held up because the investigating magistrates would not allow operatives into the damaged section of the tunnel until the enquiry into the cause of the fire was complete. Jacques Gounon Chairman and Chief Executive of Groupe Eurotunnel said "The goal is to regain full operations in the North (UK bound) tunnel by mid Feburary to reestablish the best quality of service for our many customers." |
