“Sitting here at my computer, I sometimes
feel a million miles away from the
office in Périgueux and even further from Paris.
But each month when my
copy of ‘French News’ arrives in my boîte aux lettres I am reminded that I am
not alone, one of almost 100 contributors painting a picture of our little
corner of France. The diversity of topics covered is amazing and not only
shows the varied elements of life and its ups and downs in France but also
what a diverse bunch we contributors are. When I first arrived here in the
Roussillon just over five years ago, and started wriing for the paper I was like
a child running around in a sweet shop. Surrounded by so much art, history,
Catalan culture and heritage I was spoilt for choice of subjects and my
enthusiasm knew no bounds. Today, ‘real’ life in the Roussillon is full of
people and stories of the moment. Innovations in all types of industry, private
and public construction and improvements, economic growth and
contemporary arts, food and drink. I am optimistic about the
future here and as my grasp of French improves and my contacts increase I
hope I will continue to bring you a taste of the Roussillon each month.”
