Brian Cave was awarded a state scholarship to Christ Church,
Oxford where he read Botany. Later, at Norwich School, he was the
first biology teacher ever in 700 years.
From Norwich he became the
founder-head of a small field centre in the Forest of Dean funded by
the Gloucestershire Education Authority. He became closely involved
with conservation activities, especially within the Forest of Dean. He
and his wife moved to France in 1998; they have three daughters and
one grand-daughter. “Writing articles on Natural History is foremost
for me an activity to stimulate the intellect. It never tires.”
